Verse for the Day
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
-1 Peter 4:10-11 ESV
Quote for the Day
“When the house is on fire, don't tell me what your spiritual gift is. Just grab a hose and put out the fire.”
-Andy Stanley
Word for the Day
I have received Spiritual Gifts that I am not using. I admit that I’ve been more of a spectator than a participant. I have been a critic instead of a servant. So, I’m inviting God to lead me into both discovery and development of my spiritual gifts.
Instead of being filled with pride or arrogance, I need to be filled with the Holy Spirit daily. The opportunities to bless and encourage others are presented every day. I need to remember that using my spiritual gifts is about serving others and giving God the glory.
There are times that I am simply afraid. Afraid of failure, criticism and my past mistakes and sin. I need the Lord to give me grace, mercy, and strength to use my spiritual gifts to bless others. I know I will be hurt along the way, but God is a Healer.
I must keep in mind, that I am not the only one with Spiritual Gifts. There are people around me that are just as gifted as I. So, God deserves all the credit, all the time.
Prayer for the Day
Heavenly Father,
Do not let me neglect Your Spirit or the gifts You have given me. Deliver me from fear and past hurts that keep me from participating in your ministry. Give me the courage to use my spiritual gifts and the humility to not use them for my glory, but for You and Your glory. Help me see the good work You have ready for me and embrace that work with willingness and joy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
