Verse for the Day
“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
- Ephesians 4:31-32 ESV
Quote for the Day
“We cannot embrace God’s forgiveness, if we are so busy clinging to past wounds and nursing old grudges”
― T.D. Jakes
Word for the Day
I need to mature. I need to grow up and behave like a born-again Christian. I need to put away childish things. My beliefs and my behavior need to match. So, I am starting the new year by doing all I can to let go of past hurts, wounds, mistakes, and dysfunctions. The pain of my past can not continue to hold by future hostage. I want to be free.
Holding on to my mistakes, misunderstandings, wounds, and betrayals will get me nowhere. In fact, being bitter makes me sick and it infects those around me. I want to be well. So, I am starting the new year by capturing my thoughts, being intentional about who I listen to, what I watch, how I spend time and who I associate with.
My intake needs to improve. I need to receive more loving, positive and lifegiving input. So, I am starting the new year by fasting from the people, places and things that seem to dominate and drain the very life out of me. I want to live.
I am choosing to let go and live.
Prayer for the Day
O God, thank you for reminding me that life is not always easy, but that I do not have to carry the hard into each new day. Forgive me for dwelling on the past and holding on to grudges. Bless me with the spirit of forgiveness. Show me how to love and let go. Shower me with grace, self-acceptance and new understandings of my life experiences. Free me, Shine on me and Bless me! In Jesus name, Amen
