And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” - Isaiah 6:8 ESV
Read Isaiah 6: 1-8 ESV
The prophet Isaiah experiences God in a way that invites us to consider our own experience with God. The moment is precise and unforgettable for the prophet. He is convicted of his sin, he offers a confession of his sins and ultimately he is cleansed by the purifying power of God . The prophet is forever a changed man.
His faults, failures, and fears are swallowed up by an awareness of the immensity and sufficiency of God's grace. Like all of us, Isaiah recognizes his inadequacies. He is aware of his guilt before God. But once he experiences God in a personal way, those deficiencies evaporate in the light of God's calling on his life. The voice in the text says, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?"
Indeed, God calls us. He calls us from sin unto salvation, from bondage unto freedom, from weakness unto strength and from marginalization to ministry. Our response should be "yes!"
Don't allow excuses, fear, past failures, or feelings of inadequacy to keep you from participating in Kingdom work. When God calls, we need to answer with "Yes!" Get involved in God's church, participate in God's mission, serve in God's ministry!
The prophet says, “Here I am! Send me.”
Prayer
God we love You! We love how you have already gone before us. We love that you have already paved the way. We love that when we step out in obedience, that you promise to continue to be with us, and you will then go behind us. Thank you for the promise that you will never leave us nor forsake us. That even if we don’t know every detail as to why you are telling us to go do something, that we can cling close to you staying attached to you, knowing you’ll direct us. Thank you for choosing us to partner with you to fulfill your purpose here “on earth as it is in Heaven.” (Matthew 6:10) We pray that in moments of weakness and doubt, that we would run closer to you and not run away. You are a faithful God. Remind us that you are in control as we choose to trust you this day.
We say, "Yes" to your will and way! In Jesus’ Name, Amen
