But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. -Acts 2:14,41
Making A Comeback In Life
We like to read about comebacks—about people or companies who face near disaster and turn things around. In fact, we need to hear stories about comebacks, it reminds us that no matter how great the fall in life, renewal, revival, and restoration in God is still available. Comebacks also teach us that God can change things and turn things around.
We have an example in Peter. Peter’s life is, perhaps, the greatest redemption story ever recorded.
Peter had failure written all over him.
First, he nearly drowned when his faith faltered.
Secondly, he said things that were so wrong Jesus called him “Satan”.
Thirdly, when Jesus needed Peter the most, he denied that he even knew Him
BUT THIS IS NOT THE END OF HIS STORY
In the power of the Spirit, Peter made a comeback. On the Day of Pentecost, he preached, and 3,000 people came to faith in Christ. Peter had experienced the power of transformation, recovery, and vindication through the power of the Holy Spirit. Peter had matured in faith. He serves as an example for all of us. Comebacks are still possible!
But there are no comebacks without Jesus.
