Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you. - Hebrews 13:17 (New International Version)
Be responsive to your pastoral leaders. Listen to their counsel. They are alert to the condition of your lives and work under the strict supervision of God. Contribute to the joy of their leadership, not its drudgery. Why would you want to make things harder for them?
-Hebrews 13:17 (The Message Bible)
It is often difficult for us to see the big picture when our vision is impaired by delays, disappointments, and disillusionment. But God gives the Saints not only His presence, He also provides the church with spiritual leadership. We may assume that the men and women who Shepherd God's people are just like us, and in many ways, they are. However, in a very unique way God’s spiritual leaders are chosen, called, commissioned, and anointed to lead us by God Himself.
As we think about the direction and course of our life, remember to be grateful and obedient to those God has chosen to lead and feed you spiritually. They are not perfect or flawless, but these spiritual leaders often see what you can't. They often hear what you don't. A sign of Christian maturity is recognizing and respecting leadership and offering intercessory prayer and support for Pastors.
There is a blessing in it for you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a grateful heart, loving and lifting up my pastor to Your loving care and seeking Your divine protection over his life and ministry. Help me to be responsive to his leadership. I acknowledge that the role of a pastor carries great responsibility and challenges, and I ask for Your strength and wisdom to guide my pastor in all he does. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen
