My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. — Psalm 73:26 NIV
People are hurting and life can be very difficult.
The Good News is that God is a Healer and we are not expected to do it alone. Jesus is our Lord and Savior. He comes that we may experience the Abundant Life. God formed us for fellowship. Isolation and loneliness can be overcome through faith, prayer, fellowship with others and professional therapy.
It takes time. Don't give up.
God uses many resources to provide healing for us. The church can help too. Here is how:
-Avoid stigmatizing and stereotyping.
-Don’t offer false “cures” or “solutions” to pain:
-Listen and understand that mental health can be hard.
-Show genuine love and concern.
-Check-in and offer support.
-Encourage professional help.
-Pray.
We salute and encourage all those who are challenged by Mental Health issues. May God give you freedom and deliverance. You are not alone.
Prayer:
Eternal God Our Father, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers: Mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to your children who suffer with mental illnesses the help of your power, that their sickness may be turned into health, and our concern into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
