Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. - Hebrews 13:2
In the New Testament, the Greek word translated “hospitality” literally means “love of strangers.” Hospitality is a virtue that is both commanded and commended throughout Scripture.
We should seek to practice kindness and generosity in welcoming others to the Christian faith. Especially those we do not know. The stranger or outsider is of great interest to the Kingdom. The life and ministry of Jesus Christ reflects an attitude of hospitality to those that most people would have looked over and ignored.
Many congregation could improve in the area of soul winning or evangelism by the simple demonstration of generous kindness to those who enter our doors every week, as well as responding to people in need at home or abroad.
Make a commitment this week to be hospitable to all people.
Prayer
O Lord, Open our hearts to show love to all people. Remove the seeds of hostility. Give us a better attitude towards others, especially those who are unfamiliar to ourselves. Let Your love shine through us. In Jesus name, Amen
