Verse for the Day
“I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the LORD, who does all these things. “Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit; let the earth cause them both to sprout; I the LORD have created it. Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ or ‘Your work has no handles’?”
-Isaiah 45:7–9
Quote for the Day
“If you can trust God to save you for eternity, then you can trust God to satisfy you on earth”
-David Platt
Word for the Day
The Lord’s creative will, and wise purposes stand behind everything. Therefore, his people should not be discouraged when the appearances of history seem contrary to his promises. Far from a problem to cope with, God’s sovereignty over all things is the only hope for the flowering of salvation and righteousness in this world. Isaiah warns against challenging God’s right to do his will in his own way
I often feel the need to be in control. I want to know what’s going on around me, how to handle things, direct things, change things and ultimately control things according to my will. But as I enter the new year, I am praying that God will help me to stop all this striving, and instead, rest in His sovereignty. I need to yield my will to His will, even when I don’t understand it or agree with it or like it.
This means my only answer during calamities and chaos in this world is to live and take action; do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with faith in God.
Prayer for the Day
Heavenly Father, I repent of my sin. I pray to you this very moment because I am struggling greatly with the events in the world. I pray that I find peace in your guidance and presence as I focus on the plan you have for my life. Your plan is always greater than my plan. Help me to Trust You more and relinquish control in my life to You. Guide my actions and grow my faith to Your Glory. In Jesus name Amen
