Word for the Day
I find that we are often most unhappy when we compare our life with the life of others. Its when we measure our joy and success against that of another individual. We are most miserable when we fail to see how God has blessed us.
Envy is the desire to have something that is not your own. Envy is spite and resentment at the success of another person. Jealousy is an emotion and typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something.
But we can overcome envy and live with peace when we embrace our own unique story. The chapters of which we write each day. Our life story continues and develops by the new choices we make. Our past cannot hold our present hostage. Appreciating who we are and who we are becoming is key.
Personal growth and appreciation are experienced in God alone. Possessions, popularity, professional careers, and power are poor substitutes for experiencing God’s love. He loves you because He made you and cares about you and has plans for you.
Don’t hate on others. Instead appreciate what God is doing in your life and keep writing your life story.
Prayer for the Day
Lord, thank you for loving me. I know only You can fill my heart with joy and peace. Help me to live in the present and not compare my life to other people. Let me live in freedom and contentment, writing new life chapters every day to Your glory. In Jesus name, Amen.
