Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. - Philippians 4:8 ESV
Our society is filled with so much negative, depressing, and dark experiences. The enemy often uses our environment to depress and discourage us. The root of bitterness can poison our soul.
We need to intentionally invite God to open our eyes and our heart to see and experience His beauty. We take our blessings for granted. We assume that the good that God brings in our life will be there forever. Resources, relationships, career, health, friends, job, retirement, It is all a blessing from God.
Last Sunday, I sat in worship simply in awe. The hospitality of greeters and ushers touched my heart. I heard the beautiful voices of the choir, then I saw the diverse congregation filling the pews, I sat next to three rows of robed clergy, and I felt the prayers being prayed by the deacon and I could not help but think to myself, How blessed I am to serve such a great church!
And beyond that realization was this truth, that no matter how stressful or challenging life may be, God is still great! And Life is great when we are grateful and thankful for his blessings!
…think about these things.
Prayer
Lord, open my eyes so that I can see the beauty that You bring. Let me see where you are moving. Let me see what you are doing. Let me feel your power and presence. Lord open my heart so that I can celebrate the diversity of creation and the multiplicity of gifts within my own church family. Lord help me to move beyond petty differences and nonsensical matters to see You in all Your glory! Thank you Lord for all you do for me. Give me eyes to see. Wash me and forgive me. Stay near me and help me. Let me become a blessing to others. In Jesus name , Amen
