Take Care of Yourself
Taking care of your mental health may look different at different points in life. Perhaps, some people take care of their mental health by ensuring a consistent bedtime and wake up time. For others, it could be eating three fulfilling meals a day. For some, it could be spending quiet time in God’s Word away from busyness and distractions. It could also mean talking with a mental health professional or attending a support group. Isolation is seldom the answer. But talking to trusted, competent and caring people can be a help.
You Are Loved
We love because he first loved us. — 1 John 4:19 NIV
You are loved, in the midst of the good times and the bad times. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us,” (Romans 5:8). God is love and his love is not conditional. He created us and values us.
God also puts people in our lives who love us. He called us as believers to love one another and care about one another. However, no earthly love could ever compare to the love he has for us and we can cling to that in the midst of our struggles.
Prayer for Mental Health
Give me faith to believe that your love does not lessen when I am depressed. It does not disappear when I am anxious. Your delight in me does not falter when my mood shifts, when my thoughts spiral, or when my body collapses in exhaustion. Nothing can separate me from the love of Christ (Rom 8:35–39) Lord, help me to grasp with my heart what I know in my head. On my best days and on my worst, your steadfast love remains. Thank you for loving me. In Jesus name, Amen
