“God’s Faithful Daughters”
Scripture: Luke 1:45 (New International Version)
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
As we close out Women’s History Month, we pause to honor the unwavering faith, enduring strength, and sacred legacy of African American women—mothers, daughters, grandmothers, teachers, preachers, and pioneers—whose stories are woven into the fabric of our faith.
In Luke 1:45, we hear the affirmation spoken to Mary, the mother of our Lord: “Blessed is she that believed.” This word is not limited to Mary—it echoes across generations to every woman who dared to believe God in the face of adversity, injustice, and silence. It speaks to women like Sojourner Truth, who declared, “Ain’t I a woman?”—and who bore the burdens of both race and gender with the fire of prophetic courage. It speaks to women like Harriet Tubman, who followed the voice of God through the wilderness to freedom. It speaks to countless unnamed women in our churches who kept praying, kept giving, kept believing.
Today, we lift up three words of empowerment to celebrate these daughters of faith:
As we meditate on their witness, may we honor them not just with words, but by following their example—by believing God’s promises, living boldly in our faith, and pushing forward until breakthrough comes.
Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for the legacy of African American women who have believed You, followed You, and served You with power and grace. May their stories inspire us to live with belief, boldness, and breakthrough. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
