Scripture:
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” — Romans 12:21 (ESV)
In a world weighed down with negativity, bad news, and toxic conversations, God calls us to be different. Black and Brown people in America know the sting of injustice, the burden of stereotypes, and the fatigue of fighting battles on many fronts. Yet, the Apostle Paul reminds us that evil doesn’t have the final say — goodness does. We are not called to blend in with the bitterness around us, but to shine as agents of God’s love, joy, and justice.
When we anchor ourselves in God’s Word, we don’t just survive the negativity — we transcend it. Our light still shines in boardrooms, classrooms, churches, and communities where despair tries to dominate.
Three Things to Do:
Prayer:
Gracious God, thank You for reminding us that we are overcomers in Christ. Help us to guard our minds, give out goodness, and grow in gratitude even when negativity surrounds us. Let our words build, not break; our actions heal, not harm. Empower us to be light in dark places, reflecting Your love in every space we enter. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
