It's A New Day! - Lamentations 3:22-23

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. - Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV

 

When we rise in the morning most of us have a routine. It may not be precise every morning, but most of us follow some typical order of activity when we wake up to a new day. The morning restroom stop, followed by the hot cup of coffee, or the morning news, and a host of other activities.

 

This morning I said to my Google assistant, "Good Morning" and the device began to audibly give me a rundown of the day. The weather forecast, the traffic on my way to the office, the daily news headlines and finally a joke for the morning! 

 

As I sat looking out the window, sipping my hot cup of coffee, I could not help but mutter to myself, "Good Morning Holy Spirit". I began to think about all the challenges in front of me, the conflicts needing to be managed, the relationships needing attention, the problems that needed to be solved and the tasks that needed to be accomplished.

 

Then I simply thought about the Mercy, Goodness and Faithfulness of God. Each new day is an opportunity to embrace God's purpose for my life. Each day is an opportunity to move beyond the mistakes and missteps of my past into a future of faithful obedience to God. Each new day is a gift of grace that God extends to us all. In each new day God gives us His strength and support and sanity to make it through.

 

So rise above the chaos, conflict, drama and foolishness around you today. Receive God's Mercy and recognize God's faithfulness to you!

 

 

A Prayer In The Morning

Good Morning Holy Spirit, as I rise to meet each new day, please let me be filled with Your spirit. Let me spread love, joy, peace, goodness, and faithfulness wherever I go. Give me the desire to become more like you and to worship you in all I do. Help me to desire these things so much more than the sin that entices me. Thank you for always going before me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
