We Are Only Human

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

Devotional Thought
It’s easy to forget, especially on a Monday morning, that we are not superhuman. We wake up facing deadlines, responsibilities, and expectations — our own and others’. Yet, the truth is that we are only human. We stumble, we get tired, we fall short, and we don’t always have it together. But in our fragility, God’s strength shines brightest. Our imperfections don’t disqualify us; they remind us of our need for grace.

When we learn to embrace our limitations rather than hide them, humility takes root. We stop pretending to be perfect and start allowing God to work through our weakness. That same grace also helps us become more patient and understanding toward others. If God can love us in our flaws, surely we can extend that same compassion to those around us.

Three Things to Remember

God’s Grace Fills Our Gaps – Where our strength ends, His power begins. Every weakness is an invitation for His grace to work.

Humility Opens the Door to Growth – Acknowledging our limitations isn’t failure; it’s faith. Humility allows God to shape us and draw us closer to Him.

Extend the Same Grace You Receive – Remember that others are human too. Be gentle with their flaws, patient with their growth, and forgiving of their missteps.

Reflection
Today, don’t strive for perfection — strive for presence. Let God’s strength carry you through your weakness. Be kind to yourself, and be gracious with others. When we admit we’re only human, we create space for divine power to show up in extraordinary ways.

Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for reminding me that I am human — limited, fragile, and deeply in need of You. Help me to walk humbly, accept my flaws, and extend grace to others as You have shown grace to me. Let Your power rest upon my weakness today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
