“Listen to me, all who hope for deliverance—all who seek the Lord! Consider the rock from which you were cut, the quarry from which you were mined. Yes, think about Abraham, your ancestor, and Sarah, who gave birth to your nation. Abraham was only one man when I called him. But when I blessed him, he became a great nation.” - Isaiah 51:1-2 NLT
Our church congregation is nearing it's 105th Year Church Anniversary celebration on November 8, 2020 and I'm reflecting today on what has been a 17 year journey of pastoral leadership. In doing so, I've been made to realize again how important it is to "remember". To remember how great and gracious God is toward us.
There are times when the enemy will use our memory as a tool of oppression and torment. The enemy seeks to discourage us and hold us hostage to past pain, wounds, failures and hurts. It is in that sense, that we as Christians must learn to "forget", and press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Today's prophetic Isaiah 51 text, urges us to remember what God has done for us and who God is in our life. We must not forget from whence we've come. What God brought us through. How God brought us over and who God used to bless and support us. Even in the bad times and hurtful times and difficult times, we should always remember that it is God standing with us and beside us. Don't forsake your heritage and always embrace your story...the good and bad chapters. God is using it all to His Glory.
Consider the rock from which you were cut, the quarry from which you were mined. You belong to Him and He will continue to bless you!
Prayer
Great and Awesome God, I remember Your goodness unto me. Teach me to offer you a heart of thanksgiving and praise in all my daily experiences of life. Teach me to be joyful always, to pray continually and to give thanks in all my circumstances. I long to bring pleasure to Your heart daily. Break the power of the enemy in my life. Defeat Him through my sacrifice of praise. Change my outlook and attitude into one of joyful contentment with my present circumstances. I thank You for Your Presence in every painful moment of my life, Your presence in every storm and struggle and I receive your blessings and favor over my life. May I always remember... You deserve the Honor and the Glory, In Jesus Name, Amen
