The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.” When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time. - Luke 4:9-13
Applying God's Word To Life
We can all be assured that a time of testing will be experienced in this life. However, as children of the Most High God we can also be assured that we have the victory. The Bible reveals to us God's plan for our life.
In the Luke text we are given a lesson in spiritual warfare and in overcoming temptation. The key to victory is found in the ability to properly apply the word of God to our life. We may know the Word, yet fail to apply the word and when this happens we become vulnerable to the attack of the enemy.
In the text, Satan knows the Word of God, but Jesus shows us that Satan does not apply it properly. Instead Satan uses anything to confuse and lead the people of God down the wrong road.
We should all endeavor to not only know the Word, but to properly apply the Word to our Life. Start by reading it, studying it , meditating on it and invite God's Spirit to lead you in making the proper application.
