And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. 24 And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 He said to them, “Where is your faith?” - Luke 8:23-25 ESV
Our brothers and sisters along the Gulf coast are experiencing an incredible storm of wind and rain with flood waters rising. We watch with empathy, concern and compassion as we see our neighbors to the South struggle for their very lives. It is a very difficult and dangerous situtation.
The lessons we learn from life's storms are many. The greatest lesson we should learn is that no matter where we are or who it may be struggling to survive the storm, we should do all we can within our power to support and help and come to their rescue. (But its hard to rescue someone , when you are drowning yourself.)
The spiritual lessons from the Luke text should also inspire us to be Salt and Light in a dark and dangerous world. The words of an exhausted disciple should resonate within all of us, "Master, Master, we are perishing!"
We know what it feels like to be at the end of our rope!
Here are a few points to think about today and may they inspire you to help those in need.
1. You are always safe with God...no matter what.
2. It may not seem like it, But God is in control.
3. You can be assured that God will rescue you.
4. Never place more confidence in other people, places or things than you do in God.
Please pray for our friends in Texas and Louisiana. And Let's find ways to support them in the days ahead.
Be Blessed and You Will Make It! I'm praying for you.
