And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. - Numbers 13:33

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7

Though we do not always acknowledge the prescriptive healing and delivering power of God's word, when we find ourselves in trouble or in dire straits. We usually find ourselves nose deep in the bible or flat faced on the ground in prayer. Deep within our conscience, we know that the Word of God is a divine prescription for whatever may ail the human soul.

We need greatly to find the courage and commitment to encourage one another to lay hold of its promises everyday. Especially in light of the contagion of fear that seems to have paralyzed many of the faithful who frequent our churches all across the land. Our faith often finds itself voiced in the pew and not within the home and neighborhood or with friends and foes. It is indeed challenging, yet God calls you and I to walk not by knowledge alone, nor by experience, but instead by faith. What the bible calls the evidence of things "not seen". Faith is best described as trust and dependence upon God.

And this was the challenge before Israel as they stood on the edge of the land of Canaan, the land God had promised to them. The land indeed flowing with milk and honey, was shockingly inhabited. People were already there! A formidable nation. They would have to take possession of the promise. They would have to stand on the promise of God. It was not what they had expected.

But a contagion of fear had spread throughout the camp. Those in the land were"giants" and they were "grasshoppers"!  God's people froze in fear. They had the evidence in their hands that the land was just as God had said, but to wrestle for it, to stretch for it, to sweat for it was an entirely different matter.

Whatever promised place or possession that God has put before you, don't allow fear to freeze out your faith! Be careful who you listen to. Be careful who you rub shoulders with. Gravitate towards greatness. Remind yourself that nothing great comes cheap. And above all else, walk by faith. Live life on God's terms.

God has not given you a spirit, an attitude nor a disposition of fear. He has given you access to power, love and soundness of mind. Walk in Your Purpose!
