Luke 4:1–2 NIV

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.

At Jesus' baptism the heavens opened, the Spirit of God, which looked like a dove, descended and landed on Jesus, and a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, My Beloved, with whom I am pleased." Then Jesus was sent into the wilderness by the Spirit. Where he fasted and prayed for 40 days. During his time there he was tempted by Satan and found clarity and strength to resist temptation. Afterwards, he was ready to begin his ministry. Jesus knew his purpose and his connection with the Father.

Maybe you are searching for something more? Tired of running in circles, but not really living life with direction, purpose or passion?  We all need moments of reflection, prayer and meditation. We all need to rediscover our "sacred pace". Like long distance runners who pace themselves so as to finish the race. Unfortunately in all our "busy work" we end up running away from life and from God.

Slow down. Find your "Sacred Pace". And answer this question, "What sustains me and gives me life?"
