make sense

"By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, Abraham obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going” (Hebrews 11:8 NIV).

Faith is following God’s instructions, even when they don’t make sense, even when they don’t seem logical or rational. Faith means being obedient.

God does not ask us to stop thinking nor does He ask us to stop seeking understanding. But He does insist that we trust Him. There are times when trusting God does not seem to add up. Trust God anyway.

Abraham was 75 years old when God called and promised to make him a father of nations (Genesis 12:1–4). He was 86 when Ishmael, who was not the promised child, was born (Genesis 16:16) and 100 when Isaac, the promised child (Genesis 17:19, 21), was born (Genesis 21:5). Incredible!

Is there anything too hard for God? Has God ever asked you to do something that didn’t make sense? When he does, don’t ask questions—just do it!

Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (NIV).

Trust in God’s wisdom, not your own. When you obey even when you don’t understand, you will grow in faith and spiritual maturity.
