Title: Easter Is More Than One Day: 50 Days
Scripture:
“After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.”
— Acts 1:3 (NIV)
Too often, we celebrate Easter as a single Sunday morning service — a day of lilies, white suits, big hats, and shouts of “He is risen!” But the truth is, Easter is not just one day — it’s a season that spans 50 days from Resurrection Sunday to Pentecost.
For African American believers, rooted in a history of endurance, resurrection speaks to more than an empty tomb — it echoes the hope that rises from suffering, the joy that breaks through chains, and the power of God that brings life out of death. When Jesus rose, He didn’t vanish; He walked among His people for 40 days, restoring, teaching, and preparing them for the promise of the Holy Spirit. The next 10 days were spent waiting and praying in expectation. We are invited into that same journey — not a sprint, but a sacred season to reflect, rejoice, and ready ourselves for the fire of Pentecost.
Don’t rush past the resurrection. Sit with it. Walk in it. Let the power of Easter keep speaking in your spirit every single day.
Life Principle:
Easter is not an event to attend, but a reality to live — day by day, in resurrection power.
Prayer (for the 50-Day Journey):
Risen Savior, we thank You for the empty tomb, but more than that, we thank You for the full life You give us because of it. Help us to walk in the power of Your resurrection — not just on Easter Sunday, but every day for these 50 days and beyond. Let us see with new eyes, love with renewed hearts, and live with Spirit-filled boldness. Breathe fresh fire into our faith. Heal every wound, lift every burden, and remind us that the same power that raised You from the grave lives in us. Let resurrection be our rhythm. In Jesus' name, Amen.
