...Who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits were cured, and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.

Luke 6:18-19 NIV

Because we often feel powerless in the face of oppression both in the physical and spiritual realm, we are reminded by Luke that of the many experiences one can have in Jesus, none can compare with experiencing His power. The power of Jesus is made evident in the text. People are healed, cured, and changed by the His power.

There may be circumstances in your life that seem to drain your joy, distort your vision and frustrate your faith. But never forget that there is power in the name of Jesus! The social, political and even religious powers of our day are all counterfeit sources of joy and purpose.

The Lenten season invites us to go deeper in our faith walk with God, to move beyond the motions of church life, into a personal experience of joy and purpose found only in Jesus. Be encouraged to go deeper in your faith walk, seek moments of prayer, moments of true Christian fellowship and moments of corporate bible study. Seek ways to serve and bless others ... this is what it means to be Christian.
