Do you not say, ‘It is still four months until the harvest comes?’ Look, I say to you, raise your eyes and look at the fields and see, they are white for harvest. - John 4:35

Perhaps the Christian Church has become so inwardly focused that we have lost our passion and concern for those who have not accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior.

The words of the text come on the heels of the Samaritian Woman's witness to her community. She exclaimed, "Come see a Man!", and people have come from miles around to inquire of Jesus. The disciples are bewildered and unable to understand what is happening and what Jesus is saying.

It's a missionary moment as Jesus reminds them that , "His meat is to do the will of Him who sent him". God invites us to join Him in what He is already doing. God is on mission.

Lost in church life is the fire and focus needed to win souls for the kingdom. We're invited to raise our eyes and look at the fields and see. Look at our family, our neighbors and our community and see how God is moving. There are people ready to receive the Gospel and ready to experience transformation.

Just recently, someone asked me..."Is there anything new or exciting going on at the church". I thought for a moment and then offered the following...." We're faithfully sharing the gospel with others, and that is exciting" I realized then, how tempting it is to manufacture entertaining and trendy ideas and events at the expense of our true mission in winning souls. Jesus saw the Samaritian woman and she invited others to come and see Him!

So perhaps we should all raise our eyes and look at the fields and see.........
