Prentice H. Terrance
First Lady, Friendship Baptist Church
Prentice Horton Terrance, a woman of class, dignity and determination is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was raised and adopted by her loving and devoted grandparents, the late Sterling Sr. and the late Josephine B. Horton. Her birth mother is Carol Ann Horton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Prentice is the eldest of three siblings, Tiffany Wright of Austin, Texas and Patrick Wright of Charlotte, South Carolina. She received her primary education in the public school system of the East Baton Rouge Parish and later received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern University in Business Education.
First Lady of the Friendship Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri, Prentice brings love, joy and happiness to her husband, Pastor James A. Terrance Jr., since 1995. She brings a personal commitment and standard of excellence through various church ministries, including Ladies of Distinction, a ministry that was developed out of her vision to ensure that young ladies between the ages of 12 and 18 have an outlet for growth and guidance, allowing them the opportunity to express their true feelings without judgment. Also, she developed the “True Love Waits” abstinence program that focuses on teenagers of the church. She believes that her personal life experiences have been God’s preparation for such a ministry. First Lady Terrance also served as the instructor for the TNT (Tuesday Night Teaching) “For Women Only” Bible Study. Under the leading of the Holy Spirit, she also instituted the Annual Women's Conference. This conference empowers women to believe in themselves, build self-esteem, to respect and love themselves for whom God so wonderfully and fearfully made, and to encourage them to become better wives, mothers, sisters and friends. Yet, in all these ministry efforts, she strives to keep her family first. .
First Lady Terrance is the mother of two wonderful sons, Jalen Ashton and Tyler James. Affectionately referenced as “Prime Rib” by our pastor, she is a loving, kind and compassionate person who pours herself into the ministry of Friendship Baptist Church.
