When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. – Luke 9:1-2
Lenten Meditations from The Gospel of Luke – Day 15
In our time of meditation during Lent let us consider with humility the fact that we are chosen by God. That in spite of and maybe even because of our limitations and inadequacies, God has called us to be His instruments. Although we are imperfect and inconsistent, God has chosen to give you and I power and authority to proclaim the healing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The text says that Jesus called twelve and gave them power. We’ve all experienced moments of powerlessness and weakness, but in our weakness God’s strength is made complete. Lent reminds us that “we” are chosen. Being chosen may not mean glamour, glory or celebrity status and it will involve suffering, but in the end God will be glorified and His kingdom advanced.
Focus on your calling and fulfill it to the Glory of God!
